The Opportunity

Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Provide Firstline maintenance support for machine and appliance breakdowns.
- Diagnose faults across electrical circuits, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine tool centres.
- Interrogate and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and control systems.
- Install and maintain 3‑phase power supplies and support commissioning of new equipment.
- Replace spindles, drives, and auxiliary machine tool components.
- Deliver both reactive and planned preventative maintenance in line with PPM schedules and compliance standards.
- Support machine alignment, repair, and optimisation activities.
- Liaise with maintenance support teams regarding spare parts and requisitions.
- Complete all required documentation and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, 6S standards, and facility objectives.
- Mentor trainees and support colleagues to achieve operational goals.
- Comply with all HS&E policies, identify hazards, and take corrective action.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- A relevant time‑served industry qualification.
- Experience in machine tool maintenance.
- Ability to use machine controls for fault‑finding, ideally Siemens 840D.
- Understanding of machine shop, metal treatment, and fabrication processes.
- Experience with 5‑axis milling or other large, complex machining systems.
- Ability to work shifts.
It’s great if you also have the following:
- Experience with machines such as Henri Line, DST, Handtmann, Droop & Rein, or Cincinnati.
- Knowledge of NADCAP requirements.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Confidence mentoring trainees or junior team members.

This position is based at a large engineering and manufacturing facility in Wrexham (LL12). The site operates a 24/7 shift pattern averaging 42 hours per week and is a unionised environment.
