Do you have a strong track record of coordinating consultants and ensuring design outputs meet programme and quality expectations? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a leading engineering contractor, playing a key role in delivering high-value infrastructure projects and driving technical excellence across design activities. We would also welcome applications from these industries: construction, infrastructure, rail, nuclear, energy, utilities.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Oversee and coordinate external design consultants to ensure deliverables are produced on time and meet client specifications.
  • Act as a technical lead for design elements, monitoring progress and reporting updates to senior engineering leadership.
  • Manage design queries, requests for information, and workshop outputs while ensuring clear communication across project teams.
  • Review drawings and design submissions, ensuring compliance with project scope, processes, and required standards.
  • Support design programme management, maintain design schedules, and contribute to BIM coordination and document control.

You will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Proven experience in both design and construction environments within engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of design management processes, including technical queries and stakeholder coordination.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and Principal Designer responsibilities.
  • Experience working with digital engineering tools, including BIM and CAD processes.
  • Background in heavy civil engineering or tunnelling projects would be advantageous.
