The Role

We are looking for a CAD Technician to join our Technical Services team in Swindon. You will support the delivery of construction and infrastructure projects by producing accurate, high-quality 2D and 3D drawings, layouts and models. You will work closely with engineers, designers, BIM teams and project stakeholders to ensure technical information is produced accurately, efficiently and to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and amend 2D and 3D CAD drawings, layouts and models.
  • Interpret technical information, sketches and engineering requirements.
  • Produce plans, maps, diagrams, site layouts and construction drawings.
  • Ensure drawings comply with project CAD, BIM and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate drawing files, revisions and document records.
  • Support Engineers, Project Managers and BIM teams with drawing requirements.
  • Coordinate information across drawings and models.
  • Attend site visits where required to gather and verify information.
  • Identify and raise quality, safety and coordination issues.
  • Support improvements to CAD, BIM and digital working processes.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • HNC in Civil Engineering (not essential)
  • City & Guilds in AutoCAD
  • Previous experience in a CAD Technician / Design Technician role.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills and experience producing technical drawings.
  • Good understanding of construction and/or infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to interpret engineering and construction information.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with BIM and Common Data Environments (CDE).
  • Knowledge of ISO 19650 / PAS 1192 principles.
  • Experience with Bentley systems.
  • Relevant CAD, engineering or construction qualification.
