Description

Are you an experienced Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) Engineer with a strong background in the water industry? We are seeking a Senior EICA Engineer to join a major water sector programme, supporting the delivery of high-quality electrical engineering designs across wastewater treatment works, sewage networks, and clean water projects. This is an excellent opportunity to take a lead role in electrical design delivery while mentoring junior engineers and working alongside multidisciplinary teams on critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality electrical design packages in accordance with safety, regulatory, and technical standards.
  • Produce detailed calculations, schematics, single-line diagrams, and layout drawings.
  • Lead electrical design activities across water sector projects.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, graduates, and CAD technicians.
  • Define scopes of work and oversee subcontracted design activities.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Prepare technical reports, design investigations, and engineering specifications.
  • Ensure designs comply with company procedures and relevant industry standards.
  • Manage and document design changes throughout project lifecycles.
  • Estimate design resource requirements and support project planning.
  • Represent the engineering team during client and stakeholder meetings.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in electrical design engineering.
  • Proven water/utilities sector experience.
  • Experience working on wastewater treatment works (WWTW), sewage networks, and/or clean water infrastructure.
  • Strong Low Voltage (LV) design experience.
  • HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Membership of a recognised professional institution such as the IET.
  • Actively working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
  • High Voltage (HV), LV, and ICA design experience.
  • Control systems and telecommunications engineering knowledge.
  • ATEX design and compliance experience.
  • Understanding of construction methodologies and site-based design considerations.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and best practices.
