The Opportunity: Principal Electrical Engineer to support A800 LV and Small Power design team. Stockton preferred; other locations will be considered.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- In depth knowledge of British Standards and regulations applicable to electrical system design.
- Specification of MV/LV Transformers including validating Vendor designs against requirements at Vendor design and FAT stages.
- Specification of GI/GNI distribution systems including validating Vendor designs against requirements at Vendor design and FAT stages.
- Input to mechanical/process/machine specifications from an electrical perspective.
- Production of electrical engineering deliverables including calculations, load schedules, cable sizing calculations, electrical equipment data sheets, reports, and technical bid evaluations.
- Guide designers in the production of electrical drawings including SLDs, schematics, specifications, models, datasheets, reports, and evaluations.
- Proficient in power modelling software (Trimble, SKM Power tools).
- Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements from other disciplines required for the production of electrical deliverables.
Complementary Task Experience:
- Have a good understanding of Human Factors role in engineering design.
- Experience with production of, or input to 3D engineering models.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation or Control Engineering.
- 15+ years’ experience working in engineering design in the nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, mechanical handling or water industries.
- Familiar in working in multi-discipline teams evidencing ability to coordinate activities with other disciplines and engineering departments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly and develop innovative ideas to novel problems.
- Engineering Leadership skills; ability to provide technical direction, coordinate, and check work completed by senior and junior engineers.
- Ability to manage and progress work independently requiring limited intervention from the engineering management team.
- Strong communicator with the ability to efficiently develop documentation using appropriate technical language to describe processes, ideas, and designs.
- Good presentation and communication skills when facing Client.
