As a Principal MEP Planner, you will lead planning and programme management activities for the MEP elements of a major healthcare redevelopment. Working in a complex live healthcare environment, your day-to-day focus will be on building and maintaining detailed MEP programmes, driving programme oversight from pre-construction through to handover, and coordinating effectively with project teams, subcontractors, design groups, and client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead MEP planning and programme management from design through manufacture, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Manage and mentor planners; coordinate across multidisciplinary teams to support delivery.
- Develop and maintain detailed programmes aligned to objectives, delivery strategy, and business plan requirements.
- Integrate MEP activity planning with wider construction and project delivery programmes.
- Drive and embed a strong safety culture; ensure programmes meet project and company standards.
- Identify programme risks and opportunities; implement mitigation and continuous improvement.
- Monitor performance through forecasting, reporting, and progress analysis; support commissioning and close-out milestones.
- Support pre-construction planning activities, including bid/tender programmes where required.
Qualifications & Experience (Required)
- Degree, HNC, or equivalent in Building Services Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven delivery of MEP planning on large-scale construction or engineering projects.
- Strong technical understanding of MEP systems, installation sequences, commissioning processes, and construction methodologies.
- Advanced capability in Asta Powerproject and/or Primavera P6, including 4D planning/digital modelling integration.
- Demonstrable leadership with experience mentoring planners and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills; proactive, solutions-focused approach in fast-paced, technically complex delivery.
