An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Section Foreman to join a major infrastructure contractor delivering a large-scale renewable energy project in the north of Scotland. This role will be responsible for supervising site operations and supporting the successful delivery of construction activities across a major civil engineering scheme. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider project team to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the highest quality standards. Ideally you will have delivered on civil engineering projects in excess of £20m.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Supervision & Delivery
- Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities across designated work areas.
- Lead and support site teams, including subcontractors, to achieve programme and production targets.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of project changes and site instructions.
- Project Coordination
- Support the Site Management Team with the development of work programmes, method statements, and site planning activities.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and equipment to maintain productivity across the project.
- Manage material deliveries, storage, maintenance, and site logistics requirements.
- Attend and contribute to regular project coordination meetings.
- Health, Safety & Environmental
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality compliance.
- Deliver toolbox talks, task briefings, and ensure all operatives understand safe systems of work.
- Carry out regular site inspections and ensure compliance with risk assessments and method statements.
- Support the close out of close calls, unsafe conditions, accidents, and incident investigations.
- Quality & Assurance
- Work collaboratively with project and HSQE teams to implement project management and assurance plans.
- Monitor construction quality and ensure works are completed in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
- Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate site records including labour, plant, and subcontractor documentation.
- Support document control processes and ensure project information is correctly recorded within company systems.
- Assist with reporting activities, learning reviews, and project documentation updates.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Section Foreman, General Foreman, or Supervisor within heavy civil engineering, infrastructure, energy, or major construction projects.
- Strong experience managing subcontractors and direct labour on large construction sites.
- Good understanding of construction sequencing, site coordination, and programme delivery.
- Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Ability to lead teams effectively and maintain high standards of site safety and productivity.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
Qualifications & Certifications
- CSCS Card
- SMSTS or SSSTS preferred
- First Aid qualification desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence
