The Opportunity
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a leading engineering consultancy delivering a multi-billion-pound infrastructure framework at Sellafield. This permanent role offers hybrid working, a competitive salary and car allowance, and the chance to shape critical civil and structural works within a complex nuclear environment.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams delivering civil and structural infrastructure packages.
- Ensure all technical outputs meet project requirements, UK regulations, and stringent nuclear site standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for all design-related matters, chairing reviews and driving approvals with key stakeholders.
- Provide technical direction across earthworks, foundations, drainage, and structural elements while ensuring seamless integration with mechanical and electrical disciplines.
- Oversee design governance including risk management, change control, programme tracking, budget alignment, and identification of value engineering opportunities.
You will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership.
- Demonstrable experience managing design delivery on major infrastructure or highly regulated projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK design codes, CDM regulations, and quality assurance processes.
- Proven ability to manage complex technical interfaces and deliver to demanding timescales.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience mentoring and developing engineering teams.
