The Opportunity

Are you looking to apply your structural integrity expertise on high impact projects across the UK nuclear and advanced energy sectors? This role has come about due to ongoing growth in major programmes, creating an opportunity to join a forward thinking engineering team that supports large scale, SMR and AMR developments. You’ll be contributing to design, assessment and lifetime extension work while benefiting from a supportive, inclusive environment focused on technical excellence, professional development and delivering real world impact.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Deliver design, analysis and assessment of complex structures and components using established analytical and numerical techniques.
  • Apply classical strength of materials, finite element analysis and relevant codes and standards to solve structural challenges.
  • Develop and discuss advanced technical solutions with colleagues and clients.
  • Represent the team in technical meetings with customers and third parties.
  • Interface with clients throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Produce high quality technical reports and documentation.
  • Check and verify technical work produced by other team members.
  • Support maintenance and development of team-wide technical capability.
  • Deliver projects to time, cost and quality to ensure customer satisfaction.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

  • Degree (BEng/MEng) or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related STEM discipline.
  • Chartered or working towards professional accreditation (CEng/IEng).
  • Strong understanding of analytical methods (e.g., strength of materials, fracture mechanics, thermal analysis).
  • Experience with structural design codes (ASME, Eurocodes, British Standards).
  • Experience with numerical methods (e.g., FEA).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work within multi disciplinary teams and alongside client organisations.
  • A naturally curious approach with strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.

It’s great if you also have the following:

  • Experience in the nuclear sector or other regulated industries.
  • Exposure to semi embedded project delivery models or client side interaction.
  • Experience developing capability within a team or mentoring others.
  • Ability to contribute to innovative solutions or new analysis approaches.
