The Opportunity
Due to continued growth and an increasing pipeline of complex, high-value projects, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to play a pivotal role in delivering commercial excellence across contracts and bids. This role will see you operating at a senior level, leading commercial strategy, managing risk, and influencing key stakeholders across projects. You will be responsible for ensuring robust commercial governance while driving performance and value across the portfolio. Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Provide commercial leadership and guidance across projects, contracts, and bids
- Develop and implement risk-based commercial strategies
- Act as the commercial lead for complex and high-risk issues
- Ensure compliance with commercial governance and internal policies
- Support and influence project teams to optimise commercial performance
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Lead and develop a commercial team, providing mentoring and direction
- Support financial management including project reporting and P&L input
- Contribute to bid activity, including commercial documentation and strategy
- Promote consistent commercial awareness and best practice across teams
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- Degree qualified (or equivalent), ideally in Law, Quantity Surveying or similar
- Significant experience in commercial management on large and complex contracts
- Proven track record of delivering commercial strategy and managing risk
- Experience supporting bids and contract negotiations
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Demonstrable experience leading and developing teams
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts
It’s great if you also have the following:
- Experience working across multiple business units or complex delivery environments
- Ability to drive commercial best practice and knowledge sharing
- Experience developing commercial capability within teams
