A fantastic opportunity has opened up for an experienced Electrical Engineer to author, develop, assess, and maintain all electrical design substantiation documents.
Responsibilities
- Lead on design changes and concessions.
- Produce Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules, operating procedures, and supporting data.
- Prepare and review safety case documentation, including Periodic Review of Safety reports.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Produce Independent Technical Assessment (ITA) and Independent Peer Review (IPR) scopes of work.
- Apply theoretical and practical engineering methods to design, develop, and maintain high-hazard infrastructure systems.
- Produce robust technical justifications for electrical design modifications.
- Review and approve technical reports, calculations, and safety submissions from other engineers and contractors.
Experience / Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer in HV and LV industrial plant and machinery (pumps, generators, lightning protection, control systems, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of British and European design standards.
- Experience across concept, detailed design, and construction phases of electrical engineering projects.
- Ability to assess the resilience of electrical equipment to hazard conditions.
- Skilled in producing safety-related technical justifications for high-hazard environments.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Minimum HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- Familiarity with safety case development techniques (e.g., HAZID/HAZOP).
- Experience in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence).
- Knowledge of UK and US nuclear industry regulations, codes, and standards.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status.
