The opportunity: Our client is currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineer EC&I to join their expanding engineering team based in Warrington. This role will involve working across all functions of engineering delivery, including front-end engineering design, estimating, project initiation, detailed design, construction support, technical guidance, and commissioning activities. You will ensure that all project deliverables are completed in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner while meeting relevant standards, directives, regulations, and quality targets.

The role: As a Senior EC&I Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all project deliverables are completed in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner while meeting relevant standards, directives, regulations, and quality targets. This role is Contract (12 months+) or Permanent and has been deemed inside IR35 Warrington, hybrid. Salary: Up to £60-£70K per Annum Dependent on experience or Contract Rate £55-£65/hr Umbrella Dependent on experience.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Lead engineering works, ensuring milestones, budgets, and quality targets are met.
  • Manage engineering scope changes and oversee the change control process.
  • Represent the company’s interests in client interactions, maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Work effectively within an engineering team, motivating and guiding Engineers and Designers.
  • Carry out engineering and design activities within a multi-discipline environment.
  • Make independent technical decisions and provide expert support across all engineering disciplines.
  • Supervise Engineers and Designers within your discipline or on specific projects.
  • Act as the Senior EC&I Engineer for single or multi-discipline projects.
  • Drive quality in engineering designs, including the checking and approval of deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and design regulations, including design reviews, RAMS, and safety studies.
  • Manage cost controls, scope changes, and progress reporting for allocated projects.
  • TUV certification and expertise in electrical functional safety (BS EN 61508, BS EN 61511).
  • Independently manage functional safety works, including concept, design, and approval of others’ work.
  • Supervise the production of detailed EC&I specifications, drawings, schedules, and calculations.
  • Lead selection and specification of LV electrical items (distribution equipment, isolation, and control) and instrumentation equipment (flow, pressure, level, temperature, and analytical).
  • Proficient in EC&I design software such as AutoCAD 2D, AMTECH, AutoCAD Electrical (preferred).
  • Provide technical governance on URS and FDS documentation for automation.
  • Ensure all work adheres to current industry standards and codes of practice (ATEX, CDM, BS 7671, etc.).
  • Lead site surveys and provide engineering and technical support for site installation teams.
  • Lead cold and hot commissioning activities.

You will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • HNC/HND in EC&I Engineering.
  • Bachelor’s BEng Degree in EC&I Engineering (preferred).
  • TUV Certification.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with an accredited organization (preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in EC&I Engineering and Design.
  • Strong technical knowledge across EC&I engineering disciplines.
  • Experience applying relevant British and European standards and regulations.
  • Experience within the Process, Power, and Energy industries (desired).
