The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a leading engineering contractor, playing a key role in delivering high-value infrastructure projects and driving technical excellence across design activities. This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Design Engineer, Civil Design Engineer, Structural Engineer, Temporary Works Engineer, Senior CAD Engineer, BIM Engineer, Project Engineer, Engineering Coordinator, Technical Engineer, Design Coordinator.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Oversee and coordinate external design consultants to ensure deliverables are produced on time and meet client specifications.
- Act as a technical lead for design elements, monitoring progress and reporting updates to senior engineering leadership.
- Manage design queries, requests for information, and workshop outputs while ensuring clear communication across project teams.
- Review drawings and design submissions, ensuring compliance with project scope, processes, and required standards.
- Support design programme management, maintain design schedules, and contribute to BIM coordination and document control.
You will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Proven experience in both design and construction environments within engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of design management processes, including technical queries and stakeholder coordination.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and Principal Designer responsibilities.
- Experience working with digital engineering tools, including BIM and CAD processes.
- Background in heavy civil engineering or tunnelling projects would be advantageous.
