The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation delivering technically challenging projects within a regulated environment. You’ll play a key role in producing and supporting mechanical designs across the full project lifecycle, contributing to both standalone studies and wider multi-disciplinary programmes.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Producing and managing mechanical engineering studies and work packages in support of complex projects
  • Developing mechanical designs from concept and FEED through to detailed design and site support during construction and commissioning
  • Preparing and reviewing technical deliverables such as calculations, design substantiation, drawings, P&IDs, layouts, and specifications
  • Supporting specialist mechanical systems, including mechanical handling, powder processing equipment, and transfer systems used in challenging environments
  • Liaising with internal specialists, contractors, and external stakeholders, with site visits as required to support project delivery

You will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline
  • At least two years’ experience working as a Mechanical Engineer within a regulated or safety-critical industry
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical design work across multiple project stages, including supplier documentation review
  • Exposure to mechanical studies covering manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning considerations
  • Previous involvement in projects for UK nuclear or government-backed research and energy sites would be advantageous
