The Role

Based on site full time (Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week), you will provide leadership, knowledge, advice and support to promote continuous improvement and safe working practices in line with business, legislative and contractual requirements. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping abreast of occupational hygiene legislation, industry standards and best practice to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Providing practical guidance on PPE, safe work practices and ergonomic considerations to help prevent musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Participating in safety meetings, toolbox talks and training to raise awareness of occupational health hazards and strengthen on-site occupational health awareness.
  • Supporting the HSE Lead to deliver the Occupational Hygiene Strategy.
  • Contributing to investigations and studies as required by the HSE Lead and project management.
  • Driving the implementation and use of occupational hygiene policies and procedures across project work scopes.
  • Monitoring performance via programmed inspections and audits, including reviewing RAMS suitability and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Agreeing remedial actions with site management for non‑conformance and following through to verify effective implementation.
  • Preparing and delivering performance reports and KPI updates in line with business, client and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing proactive, visible on-site advice to ensure key processes and behaviours are embedded across work packages.
  • Identifying occupational hygiene training needs, and preparing and delivering training where required.
  • Managing incident preparedness, response, reporting, investigation and follow-up to ensure root causes are established and actions are closed out.
  • Completing any other reasonable tasks as assigned by your line manager.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

  • Extensive experience as an Occupational Hygienist or Occupational Hygiene Technician within industrial settings or construction project environments.
  • Expert knowledge of fume management, including welding habitats, LEV systems and RPE requirements.
  • Proven track record in auditing, inspections, and driving remedial action on non‑conformance.
  • BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOH) or actively working towards this qualification.
  • CCNSG.
