The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has opened up for an Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer to join our client's dynamic team, where you will be responsible for defining and distributing the scope of work to ensure that the project is executed safely, on time and at appropriate levels of quality. The role As the Senior/Principal EC&I Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery of design and engineering to meet the requirements technical specification. This role has been deemed outside IR35 but is dependent on a full status determination assessment. Duration: 12 months + Location will be based in Didcot, including remote working with occasional site visit Your duties and responsibilities will be Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification. Production of design deliverables throughout the design process. Checking/approval of discipline specific design deliverables. Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews. Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation. throughout all phases of the design process. Compliance with safety legislation and statutory regulations Develop cost effective technical solutions. Staff development. Managing safety by developing and reinforcing the safety culture. Management of contractors. Provide technical consultancy.You will have the following qualifications & experience Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience. Working towards, or already have, Chartership in a discipline specific engineering institution. Strong understanding of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline. Current SC Security Clearance. Significant experience in two or more of the following specific EC&I areas: Mechanical Handling (including Remote in-cell handling) Process Instrumentation Appreciation of Functional Safety (to BS EN 61508/BS EN 61511) Machinery Safety (including BS EN 60204 and BS EN 13849) LV Distribution Systems (including experience in Trimble Pro-design) Previous experience of working within the nuclear industry. Understanding of client processes and procedures. Proven track record of successfully delivering design solutions. Understanding of design requirements and justification to support nuclear safety cases. Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations. Strong organisational and interpersonal skills. Good level of commercial awareness. Experience of leading design teams. Experience of managing sub-contracts.It’s great if you also have the following Full membership of a discipline specific engineering institution. A understanding of DAR’s. EC&I design integration with control systems (PLC/SCADA) would be advantageous. Experience of Design Substantiation to support safety cases. including assessment of new and existing systems. Experience of bid preparation.The setting for the role Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
