Senior HSE Specialist Location: Mold, North Wales Contract: 12 months +  Hours: 40 hours per week Pay: £49–£51 per hour PAYE gross + holidays per hour  Holiday: 33 days paid holiday per annum Project: Major Carbon Capture New-Build Facility Reporting to: Site HSE Manager About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior HSE Specialist to join a major Carbon Capture new-build project in Mold, North Wales. The successful candidate will provide timely, value-adding advice and guidance on all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) matters throughout the project construction phase. This will include ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, management systems and client requirements, while proactively reducing HSE risk across the project. You will become a key and trusted member of the project team, working closely with contractors, vendors, the client and other project stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Site HSE Manager, you will also form part of the wider UK HSE team, providing access to an extensive professional support network. Key Responsibilities Support the implementation of the project HSE Management System within your area of responsibility and ensure HSE objectives are achieved. Monitor contractor and vendor HSE performance, proactively intervening where sub-standard conditions or behaviours are identified. Identify and communicate emerging HSE trends to the Site HSE Manager and support appropriate corrective actions. Ensure relevant legal and other requirements are complied with, including CDM Regulations. Engage proactively with the workforce to identify safety concerns and work collaboratively to resolve them. Execute assigned HSE assurance activities in accordance with the project assurance plan. Support the effective delivery of HSE campaigns and initiatives within your area of responsibility. Ensure emergency response arrangements are effectively implemented and maintained. Lead or support incident investigations and ensure resulting improvement actions are effectively implemented and closed out. Provide HSE information and inputs for project reports as required by the Site HSE Manager. Liaise with the Project Permit Coordinator and provide support for Permit to Work / Control of Work activities. Assist with the coordination of construction and commissioning activities within your area of responsibility. Implement HSE awareness campaigns to maintain a strong focus on hazard identification and risk reduction. Support the effective delivery of project HSE inductions. Ensure environmental aspects within your area of responsibility are appropriately managed in accordance with the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP). Build and maintain strong working relationships with project representatives, the client, contractors, vendors and other key stakeholders. Help foster a positive HSE culture through effective workforce and contractor engagement. Attend and actively contribute to HSE meetings, workshops, forums and other project activities. Carry out any other HSE duties reasonably assigned by the Site HSE Manager.Essential Requirements NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent. Relevant and valid CSCS card. Membership of IOSH or an equivalent professional body. Safety Critical Medical, including Drug & Alcohol Test. Proven experience working in a full-time HSE role. Experience working within a heavy construction environment. Practical experience with Control of Work systems, including Permit to Work. Good working knowledge of UK HSE legislation and regulatory requirements. Practical understanding of CDM Regulations. Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to work proactively and confidently within a busy construction project environment.Desirable Qualifications & Experience NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent. ICAM, RCA or another recognised incident investigation qualification. Qualification/experience as an auditor of safety and environmental management systems. Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent professional membership. Experience working on major infrastructure, energy, process, petrochemical, power or other complex construction projects. Experience supporting construction and commissioning interfaces. Experience working on major projects involving multiple contractors and vendors.
