An established architectural practice is seeking a skilled and motivated professional to take on a senior role leading the delivery of Principal Designer duties under both Building Regulations and CDM. This is a rare opportunity to shape the firm’s approach to health and safety compliance, mentor colleagues, and progress toward Associate or Director level. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and enhance the practice’s procedures for Principal Designer duties, ensuring full compliance with CDM and Building Safety legislation.
  • Provide leadership and technical advice across the project lifecycle, from design through to completion.
  • Develop and maintain robust QA and health & safety records for all projects, ensuring continuous monitoring and improvement.
  • Support project teams with training and CPD activities focused on safety, risk management, and regulatory changes.
  • Represent the practice at client, design team, and site meetings, promoting best practice in design safety and compliance.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven background in design, building control, project management, or health & safety within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, Secondary Legislation 2023, and related Gateway processes.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, design safety principles, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and guide multidisciplinary teams.
  • A methodical, detail-oriented approach combined with high professional and ethical standards.
