The Opportunity

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support major nuclear infrastructure programmes across the UK and Europe. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in technically complex environments and want to contribute to nationally significant projects. You’ll be part of a collaborative team providing engineering oversight and technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

We would also welcome applications from these industries: defence, oil & gas, aerospace, rail, and advanced manufacturing.

This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Mechanical Engineer, Welding Engineer, Piping Engineer, Installation Engineer, Nuclear Engineer, Project Engineer, Site Engineer or HVAC Engineer.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

  • Responding to technical queries and change requests from site contractors, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions.
  • Reviewing and assessing non-conformance reports and exemption requests with input from design authorities where required.
  • Ensuring engineering decisions align with nuclear safety and regulatory standards.
  • Supporting the closure of outstanding technical issues and open points.
  • Evaluating and mitigating technical risks across mechanical systems and installations.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure engineering integrity across the plant.

You will have the following qualifications and experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in mechanical and welding engineering within highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with installation and construction practices, ideally in nuclear or large-scale infrastructure.
