About Millar + Howard Workshop

Millar + Howard Workshop (MHW), based near Stroud, Gloucestershire, is seeking an enthusiastic Architectural Assistant to join their team. The role is available for both Part 1 and Part 2 candidates. We are a tech‑savvy rural practice working on projects such as treehouses, listed building work, eco‑hotel spaces, unique custom homes, and innovative public and commercial buildings. Our office uses Vectorworks, Revit, SketchUp, Blender, and Unreal Engine.

Applicants

  • Excellent design and graphical skills, including the ability to develop visuals for projects using 3D computer modelling.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and keen to contribute to a collaborative and friendly studio culture.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills to communicate with the team, clients and collaborators.
  • Must be working toward a RIBA Part 1 architectural qualification or already hold it.
  • Willing to gain experience for a minimum of one year.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.

Part II Applicant Requirements

  • Experience working in a design‑led practice with a passion for innovation and craft.
  • Confident working independently with high levels of responsibility.
  • Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Plan of Works.
  • Must be working toward or hold a RIBA Part 2 architectural qualification.

Location

Office based in a converted mill building along a canal in the Golden Valley of the Cotswolds. The role is office‑based in a rural area with limited public transport.
