Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Year 6 Teachers to join schools from September 2026.

You’ll play a vital role in preparing pupils for the transition to secondary school by delivering engaging lessons, promoting high standards of achievement, and supporting every child to reach their full potential during this important stage of their education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Year 6 lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Prepare pupils for Key Stage 2 SATs through high-quality teaching and targeted interventions.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 2 is desirable.
  • ECTs are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum.
  • Experience preparing pupils for SATs is desirable.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Passion for delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and support pupils of all abilities.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
