The Role

Are you a recent graduate looking to gain hands‑on experience in education? Milk Education is recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants to work in SEN and SEMH schools, supporting students with additional needs including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, youth workers, or social workers to build valuable classroom experience while making a genuine difference in young people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups within the classroom
  • Assist the teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
  • Help students stay focused, motivated, and on task
  • Support children with SEN needs such as autism (ASC), ADHD, and SEMH
  • Use behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies when required
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour
  • Assist with classroom preparation and resource organisation
  • Monitor and report on student progress and engagement

Who We’re Looking For

  • Recent graduates (Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sociology, Sports Science, or similar)
  • Passionate about working with children and young people
  • Resilient, patient, and adaptable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Interest in careers such as teaching, educational psychology, or youth work
  • Experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)
