We are recruiting for a Year 1 Teacher for a Primary School in Wigan (WN3) to work on a long-term basis starting immediately!

The Year 1 Teacher role is to start immediately until May 2026. There are 28 children in the class and there is one full-time TA working on a one to one basis with an SEND child. The school would like someone who has previous KS1 teaching experience and good behaviour management skills. They are looking for someone who is also confident to deliver the Phonics scheme Essential Letters and Sounds.

Your role & responsibilities:

  • Teaching the children in class, ensuring they complete their work
  • Guiding students through the curriculum, marking work, setting home working tasks
  • Managing behaviour
  • Upholding school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies
  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons

Non-negotiables:

  • You must have relevant experience teaching pupils
  • Hold QTS
  • Knowledge of the national curriculum
  • Be passionate and understanding
  • Have confidence in managing classes of pupils
  • Excellent organisational skills to keep on top of marking and lesson planning
  • Good communication skills
