Primary Teaching Assistant – South Manchester

Milk Education is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and committed Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in South Manchester.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge, a graduate considering a career in teaching, or someone with relevant transferable experience working with children.

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils with their learning and development.

You will play an important role in creating a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the primary curriculum
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils who require additional assistance
  • Deliver targeted interventions in phonics, literacy and numeracy
  • Support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to pupil wellbeing
  • Help prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials
  • Support the maintenance of a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers where appropriate
  • Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of pupils
  • We're Looking For Someone Who
  • Has experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare, tutoring, coaching or similar setting – desirable
  • Is passionate about supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Has a positive, proactive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Is patient, caring and able to build strong relationships with pupils
  • Can work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • Is confident supporting pupils both independently and within a classroom setting
  • Holds a relevant qualification or degree – desirable, but not essential
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
