Ready for a Teaching Role with Smaller Classes, Greater Support, and Less Workload?

Are you a Primary or Secondary Teacher looking for a more rewarding and sustainable teaching career?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by large class sizes, excessive marking, or increasing workload, this could be the fresh start you’ve been looking for.

We’re recruiting a Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS) to join a specialist SEN school in Wakefield, supporting students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 with Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Complex Learning Needs, and Communication Difficulties.

Whether your background is Primary or Secondary education, you’ll receive the support and training needed to transition successfully into specialist SEN teaching.

Why Make the Move into SEN?

Teaching in a specialist SEN setting is different from mainstream education.

Instead of managing classes of 30+, you’ll work with small class sizes, experienced Teaching Assistants, and a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

You’ll have more time to focus on what matters most—building relationships, adapting learning to individual needs, and celebrating meaningful progress.

Many teachers who make the move into SEN find they achieve a healthier work-life balance while rediscovering the enjoyment of teaching.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver engaging and personalised lessons to students in KS3, KS4 and KS5
  • Adapt learning to meet individual EHCP outcomes
  • Support students with Autism, communication needs, and additional learning needs
  • Foster independence, confidence, and life skills
  • Work alongside experienced SEN Teaching Assistants and therapists
  • Use creative and practical teaching approaches to maximise engagement
  • Create a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Celebrate progress at every stage of each learner’s journey

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
  • Experience teaching in either Primary or Secondary education
  • A positive, flexible, and patient approach
  • Strong relationship-building and classroom management skills
  • A genuine passion for helping every student achieve their potential
  • Previous SEN experience is not essential – full support and ongoing training will be provided

Why Join This School?

  • Competitive daily pay: £162 – £251 per day
  • Small classes with excellent staff‑to‑student ratios
  • Significantly reduced marking and administrative workload compared to many mainstream settings
  • Long‑term opportunity with potential for a permanent position
  • Ongoing CPD in Autism, SEND, communication, behaviour, and sensory learning
  • Supportive leadership team committed to staff wellbeing and professional development
  • Collaborative environment with teachers, therapists, and specialist support staff
  • The opportunity to transform the lives of young people while rediscovering your passion for teaching

Ideal For

  • Primary Teachers looking for a new challenge
  • Secondary Teachers seeking improved work‑life balance
  • ECTs with a passion for SEND
  • Experienced Teachers wanting to move into specialist education
  • Teachers returning to the profession
  • Educators passionate about inclusive teaching and personalised learning

Apply Today

If you’re ready to leave behind the pressures of mainstream teaching and join a school where relationships, wellbeing, and meaningful progress come first, we’d love to hear from you.
