Wakefield , on a long or short-term basis starting in September.

This role is on a supply basis and could either be

Day-2-Day work or a Longer-Term position , depending on your preference.

This is a fantastic opportunity for recent graduates looking to build valuable experience within education , particularly those considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, child development, SEND or pastoral support .

You’ll be joining supportive, inclusive schools that put children’s wellbeing, development and education at the centre of everything they do. It’s a great opportunity to gain hands‑on classroom experience , develop your professional skills and become a familiar face within a school community.

Your main responsibilities will include

  • Support pupils with their learning and development on a 1:1, small-group or whole-class basis.
  • Work closely with class teachers and school staff to support pupils and contribute to a positive classroom environment.
  • Support pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development , encouraging confidence, independence and positive relationships.
  • Assist with classroom activities, interventions and learning tasks to help pupils achieve their individual targets.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model and encouraging engagement with education.
  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of all pupils by following safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.

Requirements or Skills

  • A degree or relevant higher education qualification , ideally in

Education, Childhood Studies, Psychology, Educational Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care or another child-related subject.

  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people and an interest in developing a career within education.
  • Previous experience working with children is desirable, but not essential
  • this could include volunteering, tutoring, mentoring, coaching or placement experience.
  • A patient, enthusiastic and adaptable approach , with the confidence to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills .
  • A willingness to learn and develop your understanding of education, safeguarding and inclusive practice .

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
