About Us:

Milk Education is more than a supply partner - we are a community for educators. Join us and gain access to training, personal development opportunities, and ongoing support. We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Tameside on a full-time, long-term basis for the rest of the academic year. This Teaching Assistant role offers stability and temp-to-perm routes for the right candidate.

You will be joining an inclusive, supportive school in Tameside that puts pupil wellbeing and consistent routines at the centre of everything they do. While previous SEN experience is preferred, it is not essential, making this a great opportunity for an adaptable Teaching Assistant who wants to become a familiar face in a Tameside school that values patience and teamwork.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups across a Tameside classroom, responding calmly to their individual learning needs

  • Helping deliver targeted catch-up sessions in literacy and numeracy to close learning gaps

  • Working alongside the class teacher on lesson preparation and adapting resources for learners with additional needs

  • Assisting with day-to-day classroom behaviour management in line with the school's positive behaviour policy

  • Promoting an accepting, inclusive classroom environment where every pupil feels safe and supported

  • Collaborating with the wider Teaching Assistant team and SENCO to track pupil progress throughout the academic year

Requirements or Skills:

  • Recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant, support worker, sports coach, or youth mentor in a school or education setting

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN (such as Autism, ADHD, or speech and language needs) is preferred, though not essential

  • Solid numeracy, literacy, and verbal communication skills

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in childcare, education, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on classroom experience

  • Available full-time Monday to Friday for the remainder of the academic year in Tameside

  • Comfortable taking direction from the class teacher and working as part of a close-knit school team

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one through Milk Education)

Benefits:

  • Competitive daily rates of Β£107.71 – Β£115 with temp-to-perm routes available for a dedicated Teaching Assistant.

  • Speedy registration process & fast-track compliance – APSCo Compliance+ accredited for the highest safer recruitment standards.

  • Consistent full-time working hours in Tameside for the rest of the academic year.

  • Culture-matched placements – we take the time to understand you and find schools in Tameside that fit your values and strengths.

  • Priority Partnership school network – access to trusted Tameside schools who work with us long-term on staffing, enrichment, and community initiatives.

  • 5+ CPD courses completed before placement (including Safeguarding, SEND & Behaviour) with access to further accredited training through Milk Academy.

  • FREE PSHE lesson plans and resources, designed by real teachers.

  • FREE Educator Wellbeing resources and access to our community hub – because we believe supported staff stay longer and make a bigger impact.

  • School Preparation Pack with handover notes and insightful school guides – so you walk in ready on day one as a Teaching Assistant.

  • 24/7 support from your personal consultant, directly through their work mobile phone to ensure your journey is personal.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
