Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children in the Early Years? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Cheam is looking for a dedicated Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Reception class from September on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference by supporting a Reception-aged pupil with additional needs, helping them develop confidence, communication skills and independence in a nurturing school environment.
The Role
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Reception with Special Educational Needs (SEND)
- Supporting learning through play and tailored interventions
- Encouraging social, emotional and communication development
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school
- Strong EYFS experience, ideally in Reception
- Experience supporting children with SEND, including Autism (ASC), speech and language needs or communication difficulties
- A patient, nurturing and proactive approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young children to thrive
