The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment when teaching staff are absent. You’ll deliver pre‑set work, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure students remain engaged throughout the lesson. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher
- Delivering pre‑prepared lesson materials and instructions provided by teachers
- Keeping pupils focused, motivated, and on task
- Managing behaviour in line with school policies and expectations
- Supporting pupils with their learning where appropriate
- Providing feedback to teaching staff on lesson outcomes and student engagement
- Promoting a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment
- Acting as a positive role model for young people

What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from candidates who have:
- Experience working with young people
- A degree in any subject is desired but not essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence leading groups and managing behaviour
- A positive, proactive, and professional attitude
- The ability to adapt quickly to different school settings
- Experience in education, youth work, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, or similar environments (desirable but not essential)
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- The right to work in the UK
