Milk Education is recruiting a resilient, compassionate, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Stoke-on-Trent. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning in a structured and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning.
- Help pupils access the curriculum through tailored and differentiated support.
- Promote positive behaviour using consistent strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Build strong, trusting relationships to support pupils’ confidence and wellbeing.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support individual support plans.
- Support pupils during transitions and intervention sessions.
Essential Requirements:
- Recent and relevant experience working in an SEMH, SEN, alternative provision, or PRU setting.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, resilient, and adaptable approach.
