We are currently recruiting for an SEND Teacher to join a welcoming and specialist SEND school in Stockport, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs and complex learning needs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND teacher who is passionate about providing high-quality, personalised and inclusive education and helping pupils make meaningful progress both academically, socially and developmentally.
The Role
As an SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, highly differentiated lessons that are adapted to the individual needs, abilities and learning styles of each pupil. You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, SEND specialists and wider professionals to create a supportive, structured and nurturing learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering individualised and differentiated lessons for pupils with SEND.
- Adapting the curriculum to meet a range of academic, communication, sensory, physical and cognitive needs.
- Using a range of visual, practical, sensory and communication-based teaching strategies.
- Supporting pupils to develop their communication, independence, confidence and life skills.
- Creating a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
- Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to EHCP outcomes, individual learning plans and pupil targets.
- Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, parents/carers and external professionals.
- Promoting positive behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, inclusion and pupil welfare.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- QTS or a recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working within an SEND, special school, SEMH or complex needs setting.
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SLD, PMLD, SEMH or other additional needs.
- A strong understanding of differentiation and personalised learning.
- The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- A patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
- Confidence supporting pupils with complex learning and behavioural needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for helping pupils with SEND achieve their potential.
- Experience within a specialist SEND setting is highly desirable, otherwise strong candidates with relevant mainstream teaching experience and a genuine interest in SEND will also be considered.
