Milk Education is seeking caring, patient and dedicated Autism Support Teaching Assistants to work across a range of schools in South Manchester from September. We are looking for experienced Teaching Assistants, SEND professionals and support workers who are confident supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional needs. With a wide range of opportunities available, we’re open to speaking with candidates looking for long-term, short-term, part-time, full-time, temporary or permanent positions.

The successful candidate will provide individualised support, help pupils access learning and build positive relationships that encourage confidence, communication and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with autism and SEND
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to support engagement and learning
  • Help pupils develop independence and confidence
  • Work closely with teachers, SEND teams and wider school staff
  • Follow individual support plans and contribute to a consistent approach

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with autism, ASC or SEND
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Autism Support Worker, Support Worker or similar
  • Understanding of autism and the different ways it can affect communication, behaviour and learning
  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Relevant SEND, education or care qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications are welcomed
  • Experience supporting pupils with complex needs is desirable

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
