School Readiness Mentor to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools, starting in

September .

This rewarding opportunity is ideal for graduates looking to gain valuable school-based experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, SEND support, social work or other child-focused professions.

As a School Readiness Mentor, you’ll support children in developing the academic, social, emotional and communication skills needed to thrive within the classroom environment.

You’ll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, independence and positive learning habits that set them up for long-term success.

  • Your Main Responsibilities
  • Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 on a one-to-one, small group and whole-class basis.
  • Help children develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with teachers to identify and support pupils requiring additional guidance.
  • Assist with classroom activities, learning resources and pupil engagement.
  • Promote attendance, participation and independence within the school environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Ideal Background

We welcome applications from graduates who have completed one of the following degrees within the last five years :

  • Childhood Studies
  • Early Years Childhood Studies
  • Psychology
  • Criminology
  • BA Education
  • Primary Education
  • MA Education
  • MA Education (SEND and Inclusion)
  • PGCE
  • Other Education, Child Development or Social Science-related degrees

Requirements

  • Degree obtained within the last five years .
  • Professional employment references covering the last two years .
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, nurturing and proactive approach.
  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
