We're currently recruiting for a Primary School Teaching Assistant to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools throughout South Shields, on both short-term and long-term assignments starting in September.
This role is ideal for qualified and experienced Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential and creating positive learning experiences across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
Your Main Responsibilities as a Primary School Teaching Assistant
- Support pupils on a one-to-one, small group and whole-class basis.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
- Provide targeted support in Reading, Writing and Maths.
- Support pupils with varying learning needs, including SEND.
- Encourage pupil engagement, confidence and independence within the classroom.
- Prepare learning resources and classroom materials.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements ofa Primary School Teaching Assistant
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or relevant experience within a Primary School setting.
- Experience supporting children across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
- A good understanding of the Primary curriculum.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, nurturing and flexible approach to supporting children's learning.
- A genuine passion for education and making a positive impact on young learners.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
