We’re currently recruiting for a Graduate Learning Mentor to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools, starting in September. This exciting opportunity is ideal for graduates looking to gain valuable school-based experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, SEND support, speech and language therapy, social work or other child-focused professions.
As a Graduate Learning Mentor, you’ll work closely with pupils, teachers and support staff to help children overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 on a one-to-one, small group and whole-class basis.
- Deliver targeted interventions in Reading, Writing and Maths.
- Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and positive learning behaviours.
- Build strong relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and participation.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional and communication development.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Prepare learning resources and classroom materials.
- Promote a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
Ideal Background
We welcome applications from graduates who have completed one of the following degrees within the last five years:
- Childhood Studies
- Early Years Childhood Studies
- Psychology
- Criminology
- BA Education
- Primary Education
- MA Education
- MA Education (SEND and Inclusion)
- PGCE
- Other Education, Child Development or Social Science-related degrees
Requirements
- Degree obtained within the last five years.
- Professional employment references covering the last two years.
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, enthusiastic and adaptable approach.
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
