Milk Education is recruiting caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join a fantastic autism-specific school in Shirley, providing 1:1 support for pupils on a long-term basis, starting 2nd March 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with autism and additional learning needs, helping them thrive in a positive, inclusive, and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with autism, tailoring assistance to individual needs.
- Support pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily routines.
- Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to implement personalised learning plans and strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement, ensuring a calm, safe, and nurturing learning space.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and a sense of achievement in pupils.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience working 1:1 with children or young people with autism or additional learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with patience, empathy, and a caring approach.
- Ability to work effectively under the guidance of teachers and SEN coordinators.
- A resilient, proactive, and understanding attitude, sensitive to the individual needs of pupils on the autism spectrum.
