Teesside Milk Education are recruiting for a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a fantastic specialist SEN school in Teesside, supporting pupils aged 2-19. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people with additional needs. You will be part of a nurturing, inclusive and supportive school environment that values diversity and places the individual needs of each pupil at the heart of everything they do. Due to the wide age range and varied needs across the school, the successful candidate must be adaptable and confident working across different classroom settings and key stages. This is a rewarding opportunity to work across a broad range of ages and support pupils with a variety of SEND needs.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, across ages 2-19.
  • Adapt support strategies to suit different classroom environments, age groups and learning needs.
  • Support pupils with their learning, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons adapted to individual needs.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and follow individual education plans (IEPs/EHCPs).
  • Support pupils with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and safeguarding at all times.
  • Help create a positive, safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff across the school.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience preferred).
  • A flexible, patient and resilient approach, with the ability to adapt to different classroom settings.
  • An understanding of a range of additional needs such as ASD, SEMH, ADHD, PMLD or SLD (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
