Location: Gateshead - for the temporary nature of this role you must be based in the North East.

Hours: Monday to Friday

Milk Education is seeking to appoint an exceptional, ambitious and highly motivated SENCo to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Gateshead. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational leader who is passionate about inclusion, committed to securing outstanding outcomes for all students, and driven to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and developing SEND and inclusion provision across the school while contributing strategically to whole-school leadership, improvement, and culture.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience of leading SEND provision within a secondary school setting
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and motivate staff
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and statutory responsibilities
  • Passion for inclusion and removing barriers to learning
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, governors, and external agencies
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and strategically develop SEND and inclusion provision across the school
  • Ensure high-quality support and intervention for students with additional needs
  • Drive outstanding teaching and learning for all learners
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, governors, and external agencies
  • Ensure all statutory SEND responsibilities are fully met
  • Contribute to whole-school leadership, improvement planning, and culture
  • Promote high expectations, achievement, attendance, and wellbeing for all students
  • Support staff development and best practice in inclusive teaching
