Milk Education is seeking to appoint an exceptional, ambitious and highly motivated SENCo to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Gateshead. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and developing SEND and inclusion provision across the school while contributing strategically to whole-school leadership, improvement, and culture.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience of leading SEND provision within a secondary school setting
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and motivate staff
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation and statutory responsibilities
- Passion for inclusion and removing barriers to learning
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, governors, and external agencies
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and strategically develop SEND and inclusion provision across the school
- Ensure high-quality support and intervention for students with additional needs
- Drive outstanding teaching and learning for all learners
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and outcomes
- Work collaboratively with staff, families, governors, and external agencies
- Ensure all statutory SEND responsibilities are fully met
- Contribute to whole-school leadership, improvement planning, and culture
- Promote high expectations, achievement, attendance, and wellbeing for all students
- Support staff development and best practice in inclusive teaching
