The Role

The school is seeking a compassionate and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive in school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist in implementing individual learning plans and interventions
  • Adapt classroom activities and resources to meet pupil needs
  • Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
  • Monitor and report pupil progress to the class teacher / SENDCo
  • Support behaviour management in line with school values
  • Prepare differentiated resources and assist with classroom organisation
  • Contribute to a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEND (learning difficulties, SEMH needs, autism, speech and language difficulties, etc.)
  • Be patient, empathetic, and adaptable
  • Communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management strategies
  • Be organised, proactive, and collaborative
  • Hold an enhanced DBS (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Ideally hold a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, CACHE)
