The Role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will work closely with pupils who are non-verbal and have complex needs, supporting their learning, communication, and personal development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD and PMLD
  • Assist with personal care routines including toileting and hygiene
  • Support non-verbal children using alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton)
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to implement individual learning plans
  • Promote a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children is essential
  • Previous experience in a SEND or specialist education setting
  • Understanding of ASD, PMLD, and non-verbal communication strategies
  • Comfortable providing personal care and physical support
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to learning support
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care) are desirable
