We’re currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant to join a school in Salford on a long or short-term basis. This role is available on a temporary, permanent or temp-to-perm basis. This is a great opportunity for an experienced catering professional to become a familiar face within a school environment and play an important role in supporting the smooth running of the school kitchen and lunchtime provision. You’ll be joining a friendly and well-organised school where staff work closely together to create a safe, positive and enjoyable environment for pupils. As a Catering Assistant, you’ll play an important role in ensuring pupils receive a high-quality, nutritious and welcoming lunchtime experience.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and serving food to pupils and staff in line with food safety and hygiene standards
  • Supporting the smooth running of the kitchen and dining areas
  • Following food preparation, storage and cleaning procedures
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and dining areas
  • Supporting with stock rotation, deliveries and general kitchen duties
  • Working effectively as part of a wider catering team
  • Promoting a positive and welcoming lunchtime environment for pupils

Requirements or Skills:

  • A Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification is essential
  • Recent experience working in a catering, kitchen or school catering environment
  • Good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety procedures
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Reliable, organised and able to work in a busy environment
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards working with children and school staff

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
