Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs? We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Rotherham that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
The school has a strong focus on inclusion and provides excellent support for both pupils and staff, making it an ideal environment for someone passionate about SEND education.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH and learning difficulties.
- Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their individual learning goals.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement personalised support plans.
- Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement and independence.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents and external professionals.
- Record and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback where required.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND within a UK primary school or similar educational setting.
- A patient, caring and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to individual pupil needs.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is desirable but not essential.
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs is highly desirable.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
