We are currently recruiting for a PMLD SEND Teacher to join a welcoming and specialist primary SEND school in Rochdale, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and a range of complex additional needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND teacher who is passionate about providing high-quality, personalised and inclusive education and helping pupils make meaningful progress both academically and developmentally.
The Role
As a PMLD SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, highly differentiated lessons that are adapted to the individual needs and abilities of each pupil. You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, SEND specialists and wider professionals to create a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering individualised lessons and learning programmes for pupils with PMLD and complex SEND.
- Adapting the curriculum to meet a wide range of communication, sensory, physical and cognitive needs.
- Using a range of sensory, visual, practical and communication-based teaching strategies.
- Supporting pupils to develop their communication, independence, social and life skills.
- Creating a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
- Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans.
- Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, parents/carers and external professionals.
- Promoting positive behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, inclusion and pupil welfare.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- QTS or recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working within a SEND, special school or complex needs setting.
- Experience supporting pupils with PMLD, SLD, ASD or complex learning needs.
- A strong understanding of differentiation and personalised learning.
- The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- A patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for helping pupils with complex needs achieve their potential.
- Experience within a primary SEND setting is highly desirable, although strong candidates with relevant specialist SEND experience will also be considered.
