Milk Education is currently working with a friendly primary school in Stockton that is looking for a committed Student Engagement Mentor to join their team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide valuable support to pupils both within and beyond the classroom. You will help students overcome challenges that may affect their learning, encourage positive behaviour and attendance, and support them in reaching their full potential.
Role Overview
As a Student Engagement Mentor, you will provide pastoral and behavioural support to pupils who may need additional guidance. You will develop strong, trusting relationships with students, encourage participation in education, and deliver one-to-one and small-group mentoring. Your support will help pupils build self-confidence, resilience, emotional wellbeing, and a positive approach to school and learning. You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team, contributing to a supportive school environment and helping improve behaviour, wellbeing, engagement, and educational outcomes.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working with young children, preferably in a school, youth, mentoring, or support environment
- Experience supporting children with behavioural, SEMH, or additional educational needs would be advantageous
- A patient, understanding, and resilient nature
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to encourage, motivate, and positively influence young people
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people
- Must live locally to Redcar - relocation is not available
