  • Learning Support Assistant – Main Responsibilities
  • Supporting teachers and pupils during engaging lessons across the primary curriculum.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to help pupils work towards their individual learning goals.
  • Offering tailored academic, emotional, and pastoral support based on each pupil’s individual needs.
  • Encouraging an inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued, supported, and confident to participate.
  • Assisting with the preparation, organisation, and adaptation of learning resources.
  • Helping to maintain a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment that promotes pupil wellbeing.
  • Building strong and positive relationships with pupils to develop their confidence, independence, and engagement.
  • Supporting positive behaviour by following school policies, procedures, and classroom expectations.
  • Working closely with teachers, school staff, and parents where appropriate to support pupils’ progress.
  • Observing pupils’ learning and development and sharing relevant feedback with teaching staff.
  • Encouraging pupils to develop their social, emotional, communication, and learning skills.
  • Learning Support Assistant – Requirements and Skills
  • Recent experience working within an educational or child-focused setting.
  • Confident literacy and numeracy skills.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification such as CACHE, Childcare, NNEB, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop positive relationships with children and adults.
  • A patient, caring, supportive, and adaptable approach to working with children.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a school team while following the guidance and direction of teaching staff.

This position is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience, and the specific requirements of the placement.
