Psychology Graduate – Trainee Learning Support Assistant

This is an exceptional opportunity with Milk Education for Psychology Graduates looking to begin or further their career in education. As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will work in a dynamic school environment, supporting children with Autism and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This role offers invaluable hands-on experience for those pursuing careers in educational psychology, social work, or other related fields.

As an LSA, you will provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them to engage in their learning and personal development in a nurturing and structured environment.

Psychology Graduate – Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with Autism, learning difficulties and other SEND.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Promote students’ emotional, social, and academic progress through engaging activities and positive reinforcement.
  • Collaborate with teachers and professionals to deliver inclusive teaching methods.
  • Support students with personal care needs (training provided as necessary).
  • Observe and monitor student progress, maintaining detailed records and reporting to teachers and parents.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful classroom environment that promotes inclusion.

Psychology Graduate – Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology (or a related field) is highly advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience working with children or young people with Autism or SEND is desirable but not required.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional learning needs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
