Primary Teaching Assistant – Middlesbrough
Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistants to join schools from September 2026.
Whether you’re an experienced Teaching Assistant, hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, or have recent experience supporting children within a primary school setting, we’d love to hear from you.
We have a range of long-term, full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children’s learning and development, working alongside class teachers to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment where every child can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and improve attainment.
- Support children’s literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum development.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
- Support pupils with SEND where required.
- Assist with classroom preparation and organisation.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and school staff.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
- Previous experience working within a primary school setting.
- Experience supporting children across EYFS, KS1, or KS2.
- A caring, patient, and proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Passion for supporting children’s education and development.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting salary will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
