Role Overview
In this role, you will work with pupils who may require additional pastoral support throughout the school day. You will build trusting relationships with children, helping them manage emotions, develop social skills, improve their behaviour, and feel more confident within the school environment. You may provide individual support as well as working with small groups of pupils, helping children develop independence, resilience, communication skills, and positive attitudes towards school. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and the wider school team, you will contribute to creating a positive and inclusive environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed. The role would be particularly well suited to candidates with experience in primary education, childcare, youth work, pastoral support, mentoring, or similar settings.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school, childcare, youth work, mentoring, or support environment
- Experience supporting children with social, emotional, behavioural, or additional learning needs would be beneficial
- A warm, patient, and understanding approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to develop positive and professional relationships with children
- Confidence supporting children who may display challenging behaviour or require additional encouragement
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
- Must live locally to Stockton - relocation is not available
