We are currently seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organised Pastoral Manager to join a supportive secondary school in Darlington on a full-time long-term temporary basis. This position will be permanent for the right person. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated pastoral professional who is passionate about supporting young people’s wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development within a secondary school environment.
The Role
- Providing pastoral support and guidance to students
- Promoting positive behaviour and helping maintain high standards across the school
- Supporting attendance, punctuality, and student wellbeing
- Working closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding teams, teaching staff, parents, and external agencies
- Managing behavioural incidents and supporting restorative approaches
- Identifying barriers to learning and implementing appropriate interventions
- Supporting vulnerable students and students with additional needs
- Building positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and achievement
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience working within a pastoral, behaviour, inclusion, or student support role in a school setting
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be calm, resilient, and able to manage challenging situations professionally
- Have strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Be passionate about supporting the wellbeing and development of young people
- Be able to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and safeguarding team
