Pastoral Assistant – Haringey

Milk Education are working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in Haringey to recruit a dedicated Pastoral Assistant to join their pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with their wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and personal development.

The successful Pastoral Assistant will play a key role in ensuring students feel safe, supported and able to thrive both academically and personally. The school is known for its strong pastoral systems, high expectations and commitment to helping every student achieve their full potential.

The Role:

  • Supporting students with attendance, behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Working as a Pastoral Assistant to build positive relationships with pupils and families
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group pastoral interventions
  • Supporting students who may be experiencing barriers to learning
  • Liaising with teachers, safeguarding staff and external agencies where required
  • Monitoring student welfare and maintaining accurate records
  • Assisting with behaviour management and promoting positive conduct throughout the school
  • Supporting safeguarding and student wellbeing initiatives across the school community

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience as a Pastoral Assistant, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker or Teaching Assistant
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and student welfare
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Passion for supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes

The successful Pastoral Assistant will become part of a supportive team committed to promoting positive mental health, wellbeing and personal development. This Pastoral Assistant role offers the opportunity to work closely with students who require additional guidance and encouragement throughout their educational journey.

Essential Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
  • Relevant experience working with children or young people
